The use of cannabidiol in the treatment of children with West syndrome
Abstract
It is known that canabidiol (CBD) has been used in cases of epilepsy, given that it is a non-brain disorder caused by a genetic predisposition, such as SW (MATOS et al., 2017; GARCIA et al., 2020). . Canabidiol is two components found in Cannabis sativa, a plant that has been used for its medicinal properties since 2700 BC. as treatment of dors, tuberculosis, malaria, epilepsy, among others. Currently, the product is approved by ANVISA in various administrations and is sold in pharmacies based on medical prescriptions, but it has still not been found in Brazil (BRAZIL, 2019). The objective of this work is to relate the use of canabidiol oil to West Syndrome, with the aim of presenting its importance in alternative and differential treatment in patients with symptoms of epileptic seizures.
