Abstract

In critical care, it is essential to monitor vital parameters at minimum intervals. Invasive blood pressure measurement is widely used for hemodynamically unstable patients, on vasoactive drugs or in a state of shock, for whom it is indispensable and a critical factor in the success of treatment. By catheterizing an artery, precise and constant monitoring of BP is carried out, which allows the multidisciplinary team to provide more complex and assertive assistance. A quasi-experimental study was carried out to evaluate the effect of an educational activity related to direct BP measurement on the knowledge of the nursing team in critical sectors, with 37 participants including nurses, technicians and assistants, as well as nursing graduates, whose knowledge was measured by questionnaire before and after the educational intervention, applied on a cell phone using the digital Google Forms®. The results revealed that there was an increase in professionals' knowledge about the hospital care provided to patients using an iPA, since the purpose, clinical indications, complications, maintenance of patency, up to the nursing diagnoses and interventions that permeate this clinical condition. This study achieved its objectives of analyzing the impacts of an educational intervention on the knowledge of nursing professionals and the results obtained demonstrated that the educational intervention contributed to greater knowledge of the participants, associated with the use of active methodology means and technological devices that contributed to the reach of knowledge among professionals.
