Abstract

The social isolation imposed by the pandemic COVID-19 has generated several transformations, especially in the educational sphere, leading to the need to reframe face-to-face teaching and make room for remote teaching mediated by technological resources and their interfaces. Against this new challenge imposed, higher education institutions (HEIs) had to adapt quickly, replacing face-to-face subjects, in regularly authorized courses, with teaching activities that use digital educational resources and digital information and communication technologies. In this context, the aim of this experience report was to discuss changes related to academic communication, teaching methodologies (synchronous and asynchronous), assessment methods, complementary student activities, meetings, and research and extension activities carried out in the Physiotherapy course at Barão de Mauá University Center. The challenges imposed by this panorama have given new meaning to the teaching-learning process not only for students, but also for teachers. The new tools incorporated into the teaching and learning methods now seem indispensable. And, finally, it is worth mentioning that the pedagogical and technological support offered by the HEI was and is being indispensable so that, in this moment of so many changes and uncertainties, the setbacks can be overcome.
